Pioneering with laser light

Mercedes has plans to launch the world's first hydrogen-fuelled car in 2016. All of its new, revolutionary engine is being developed in Germany – all, that is, except one tiny component: a critical sensor needed to monitor the fuel mix. That sensor is being made in Sittard-Geleen by Agora, the company founded by technical wizard and inventor Hennie Bemelmans.

Super-fertilizer from Sittard-Geleen

Farmers and growers worldwide use millions of tons of artificial fertilizer to help their crops grow better and faster. But over half of that is wasted, seeping into the soil without being utilized. Ekompany has developed a way to stop the waste: The artificial fertilizer grain with a vegetable-based coating.

Passion for sports bikes

For the next two seasons, Roompot-Orange Cycling's fresh new professional team will be cruising around on Isaac bicycles. Specially designed and assembled by Tehava in Sittard-Geleen. 'We made a clear decision to work with a Dutch professional team,' says proud owner-director Robert Vrancken.
