Silvester’sThis is our personal favourite! It's also been awarded a Bib Gourmand by Michelin. We highly recommend it if you are looking for authentic cuisine of outstanding quality for an attractive price. The chef, Silvester, greatly values authentic foods and simple dishes that taste great. He prioritizes working with regional and organic products, such as Herefords beef and Livar pork. The menu caters to everyone. Go for the Bib Gourmand menu, the regular menu, or let the chef wow you.
Paardestraat 25, Sittard
Kasteel LimbrichtYou can enjoy timeless charm in the recently reopened Kasteel Limbricht (Castle Limbricht). Castle Limbricht has plenty to offer. Het Proeflokaal (the tasting hall) at the heart of the castle is as cosy as can be. Enjoy the varied gourmet menu while admiring the contemporary interior design. To create their richly flavoured dishes, Castle Limbricht’s kitchen and butcher use fresh and local produce as well as herbs and vegetables grown on the castle grounds.
Allee 1, Limbricht
MedsThis Mediterranean restaurant is located in a magnificent old doctor's surgery and has a spectacular view of the market square from both the restaurant and the terrace. Here, the team creates authentic dishes in an artisanal and creative fashion, with quality produce sourced from several regions and vineyards in Italy and other Mediterranean countries. Meds has something for everyone, with distinct menus for lunch, dinner, and cocktail receptions, as well as a rotating menu including home-made antipasto, sauces, soup and pasta dishes. They put their heart and soul into all their food, including the home-made chargrilled bread. The basement houses a hidden gem in Café Meds, which is the place to be for delicious snacks, exquisite wines, and many craft beers.
Markt 31, Sittard
Brasserie AbshovenAfter being neglected for twenty years, life has returned to this beautiful former monastery in a spectacular fashion. The entire exterior was renovated, and the interior was transformed into a stunning brasserie. Enjoy the house specialities, explore the area, and feast your eyes on the scene. Sit out on the tranquil terrace at the rear of the monastery and drink in the stunning view of Absbroek forest. The ruins of the monastery left intact after the renovation really add character to the terrace, making it an ideal starting place for hikes through a breathtaking nature area. All in all, it's real gem!
Abshoven 35, Munstergeleen
Eetcafé PretzelsThis is not your average café. Come relax in this cosy little place, with dark-stained oak and curiosities all around. Be amused by the interesting stories and anecdotes throughout the inimitable menu. In 2009, it was awarded the prize for best whisky bar in the Netherlands, and rightly so: with approximately 650 whisky varieties, it is known to whisky aficionados far and wide for the monthly tasting event.
