Eneco Tour and Ster ZLM Tour
In recent years, Sittard-Geleen has been raising its profile as a 'cycling town' in a number of ways. One prominent example is the establishment of the Regional Training Centre Cycling Limburg (RTC) in the city. Sittard-Geleen has also attracted interest from the international cycling world; take USA Cycling's choice to establish its European training centre here, as well as the arrival of the Giant-Shimano pro tour winter team. Limburg's cycling town has also become home to top-tier cycling events: The international races Ster ZLM Tour and the Eneco Tour start and finish in the city in June and August, respectively.
Eneco Tour The Eneco Tour is one of the biggest cycling events in the Netherlands. It draws national and international top riders to battle for the gold. The individual time trial of the Eneco Tour is held in Sittard-Geleen every year, with the historic market square as charming starting point and end point of this stage. http://www.sport.be/enecotour/
Track Cycling Clinic It kicks off with a cup of coffee. Then the group goes down to the cycling track for a brief presentation on the history of the sport park by the track manager. You also get an explanation of the rules of the track. Then, you make your choice: do you want the individual time trial, or will you go head-to-head in a real track race, or riding behind the derny?
